DWF Labs Will Co-Host Inaugural DeSoc Hackathon

At DWF Labs, we’re proud to co-host the inaugural DeSoc Hackathon alongside Tako Protocol and Airstack—a global initiative aimed at accelerating innovation in decentralised social technology. This builder-focused event brings together developers, founders, creatives, and investors to explore what social interaction can look like in Web3, where individuals control their data, networks operate transparently, and creators are fairly incentivised.

The hackathon officially kicks off on February 2 and runs through February 18, 2024, offering a 17-day sprint from concept to minimum viable product (MVP). Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with new tools and technologies, build working prototypes, and receive guidance from experienced mentors. Throughout the event, teams will take part in workshops and seminars hosted by experts from across the Web3 space, gaining insights on product development, user experience, and the challenges and opportunities within the decentralised social landscape.

To encourage creativity and hands-on innovation, the event will feature a $15,000 prize pool, with $5,000 awarded to the best use cases built on each of the core technologies powering the event: Tako Protocol, Airstack, and Lens Protocol’s Smart Post framework. Additional rewards will be offered by XMTP and Phala Network, who join the event as supporting partners.

A panel of judges representing key players in the Web3 space, including DWF Labs, Superscrypt, HashKey Capital, Polygon Labs, Linea, and Phaver, will evaluate the submitted projects. Finalists will present their work during an online demo day on February 18, and selected teams will be invited to showcase their projects at ETHDenver 2024 on March 2, gaining exposure to a global audience of developers, investors, and ecosystem leaders.

This initiative has attracted wide support across the Web3 industry. From public blockchain networks and venture capital firms to grassroots developer communities and media platforms. Strategic partners include Consensys, Polygon Labs, Arbitrum, Lens Protocol, XMTP, Linea, RSS3, Phala Network, and BlockBeats, the exclusive media partner. A range of leading projects, including Phaver, Lensholic, Jamfrens, LensPort, QuestN, and Rarimo Protocol, are also joining as collaborators. Community support comes from organisations such as MoleDAO, SeeDAO, Rebase, BuidlerDAO, SMUB, CollegeDAO, and Bybit Web3, while VC partners such as Mask Network, AC Capital, RootsLabs, and viaBTC Capital further strengthen the network of support behind the hackathon.

Registration is now open and will close on February 1. All participants must register and form their teams before the deadline. Once the hackathon begins, teams will enter a two-week period of product development, mentorship, and collaboration, culminating in a live demo and opportunity to exhibit at one of the most prominent events in the industry.

About the Co-Organisers
